A lock like no other

It has “lock” in its name – but in reality it isn’t one: the Sluishuis (“Lock House”) offers residential space directly on Amsterdam harbour.

The Sluishuis protrudes into IJmeer lake east of the centre of Amsterdam like a huge ship’s bow. Built on artificial islands, the eleven-storey building with over 400 apartments creates a lot of living space. The unique building allows for picturesque views of the water and the surrounding landscape from the inner courtyard.
A focus on the environment
The building is technologically advanced and is designed according to environmental criteria. It generates more energy than it consumes and is equipped with rainwater collectors for watering the plants and a treatment plant for service water. The building is heated via energy-efficient district heating. Heat pumps are used for hot water and cooling, while a photovoltaic system covers the bulk of the electricity demands.
The building owner relies on quality, a good price-performance ratio and sustainability.
442
apartments
The Sluishuis is home to 442 apartments.
Installation technology and bathroom products
The building features numerous Geberit products: the Duofix installation system with Geberit flush technology and the Pluvia roof drainage system ensure an efficient water infrastructure is in place. Toilets and washbasins from Geberit are also installed here.
Carl Belterman, Geberit Sales Manager at the sales company in the Netherlands, comments: “The building owner Bouwinvest Residential Fund is making long-term investments and relies on quality, a good price-performance ratio and sustainability.”
