GEBERIT KNOW-HOW
- Pluvia roof drainage system
- Smyle washbasins
The Polish city of Lublin and its surrounding area are home to over 700,000 people. This density leads to a high degree of mobility. This is where the new city railway station in Lublin comes in.
The new building is an architectural gem. The modernist flat roof is supported by decorative, white steel columns that are reminiscent of mangroves. The columns are part of a sophisticated environmental heating concept known as a box-in-box structure. Here, a large outer block – the roof and column structure – surrounds a second, smaller block. Only the inner block is heated, but the design also allows heat to be transferred to the outer area.
Using rainwater with the Geberit system
A large, vertical garden measuring almost 300 square metres grows on the outer wall of the building. There is also a green roof and green spaces around the station. The rainwater is drained using the Geberit Pluvia roof drainage system and used for flushing the toilets and watering the green areas. Pluvia is a siphonic system, meaning the water is suctioned from the roof. Thanks to the high drainage capacity, fewer stacks are required. This saves material and gives the architects design freedom.
The public toilets are equipped with Geberit Smyle washbasins. They blend in perfectly with the overall station structure thanks to their sleek design.
