“The Valley” offers modern, high-quality urban living space in the middle of Amsterdam. Geberit’s sanitary expertise also played a major role here.

GEBERIT KNOW-HOW

  • Pluvia roof drainage system
  • SuperTube drainage system
  • PE drainage system
  • Geberit Mapress Copper supply system
  • Duofix installation system
  • Sigma20 actuator plate

The initial scepticism is not surprising. After all, the building complex “The Valley” in Amsterdam challenges the familiar notion of architecture. On the outside, the walls of the complex are smooth, covered with a mirrored skin. Inside, the living space opens up like a rugged gorge.

Green outside and inside

This urban mountain with three towers of up to 100 metres in height is home to around 200 apartments of between 55 and 400 square metres. The base of the building is reserved for public use. Nature is an integral part of this architectural project. Over 150 plant varieties grow on the ten floors.

But this is not the only reason why “The Valley” is considered a green building. It is a “plus energy building”, meaning it generates more energy than it draws externally. Photovoltaic systems on the roofs, district heating and triple glazing, underfloor heating and cooling all contribute to this energy efficiency.

The diligent handling of water was an important topic from the very beginning.

Confidence in Geberit

Geberit also contributed to the “Excellent” rating of the BREEAM certification standard, which was awarded to the lower, public floors. After all, an efficient water supply and waste water disposal are also important criteria for the certification of sustainable buildings. “The diligent handling of water was an important topic from the very beginning,” recalls Jeroen Kemmink, who was responsible for the project on behalf of Geberit. The efficient Geberit SuperTube drainage system was used here.
