An eye for showrooms

Ágnes Farkas is responsible for the presentation of Geberit products in 320 showrooms across Hungary.
Ágnes Farkas was practically born with an eye for design. For decades, her mother worked as the Hungarian representative of the Swiss furniture company Vitra. “Many of our friends were designers. This really left a mark,” she explains.
However, her career initially starts with an economics degree. Her first jobs mainly consist of numbers and data. “This wasn’t really my thing,” she says. After looking for a change, she joins Geberit in 2019.
Life in the fast lane
Until that point, one person is responsible for all showrooms across the country. These usually belong to retailers who sell sanitary products, from tiles through to taps. Geberit products are on show here in panels or display installations.
The duo now looks after the country together – one in the west and the other in the east. The growth is impressive and a third person soon joins the team. The showroom business becomes an independent department within the sales company. Today, Ágnes Farkas is in charge of the showroom team and is the first woman from sales to join the Hungarian management team.
Where aesthetics and economics meet
“Competition in front of the wall is intense,” she says. “However, Geberit can position itself with timeless products and technical know-how.” This message is passed on in 320 showrooms across Hungary. “To do this, we sometimes have to find compromises with retailers so that economic and aesthetic considerations are both met.”
