New models are being added to the Renova/Selnova urinal range – with top flushing-out performance and simple installation. Before the launch, plumber Tim Kirchner puts them to the test: Do the new urinals live up to their promises?

Bucket under the urinal, remove the actuator plate, turn off the water, loosen the ceramic appliance, remove the silicone seals. “I’m curious how easy it is to install the new urinals.” With his small business, plumber Tim Kirchner provides sanitary and heating services in the Düsseldorf area (DE). He now takes on the task of replacing eleven outdated Aller urinals at the Geberit logistics site in Lintorf (DE). In doing so, he installs the new Renova/Selnova models – essentially as a “first tester”.

Rimless and elegant, optimised flush performance, easy to install and suitable for installation in existing situations – these are the requirements that the interdisciplinary development team should meet. Plastics professionals from Rapperswil-Jona (CH) and ceramics professionals from Koło (PL) spend many months working on the perfect urinal. The project is a major challenge – in terms of mould construction, the casting systems and coordinating the water distributor and flushing system.

First things first: turn off the water.

I’ve installed a lot of urinals, but this is one of the quickest.

In addition to the slim ceramic appliance, which allows the user to step closer and thus reduces splashes, the new flush guide is the major innovation. When the flush is actuated, the water in the guide opens a flap and is directed evenly into the ceramic appliance. The flap then closes again, ensuring that no water flows after flushing. A thorough flushing out is possible with just 0.5 litres of water.

Do the urinals live up to Geberit’s promises? Tim Kirchner needs less than ten minutes for each urinal. “I’ve installed a lot of urinals, but this is one of the quickest. And it flushes like a dream!”
